Nell on STV – the hardest working girl in rock n roll

October 29, 2009

Nell was recently interviewed on STV (ITV Scotland). Nell discusses her musical roots and her approach to working as a professional musician.

Here’s a snippet…
“There’s no better way to gauge where you are as an artist than to bounce it off an audience. I think that sometimes when you are in your bedroom and recording songs, you can lose a little bit of touch with the style of music, particularly that I am trying to do. It’s so based on people’s reaction and on having fun and going out for a good night”

Record Deal with Cooking Vinyl

August 26, 2009

Talk about being a procrastinator.

I leave everything to the last minute. I must be addicted to the drama of, “will it all get done?”  Today is definitely no exception.

I fly tonight for a whole new tour of Ireland and England. My suitcase isn’t even unpacked from the last trip yet. I haven’t seen my hometown friends or had proper catch-ups yet. I’m sitting in the passport agency in New York City waiting to have visa pages added to my passport, since I’ve run out of room. Yes, it will be a rush job.

But here’s my excuse: it’s been one hell of a summer! Everything I’ve been working so hard for is finally coming together.

First of all: I’ve signed a record deal! Cooking Vinyl – a well-respected UK label with a roster including the Prodigy, Billy Bragg, Ryan Adams, Blondie, and Echo and the Bunnymen – has licensed my album “What Does It Take.”  The release date is Oct 12 in the British Isles; Europe and Australia are TBA. http://www.cookingvinyl.com

Secondly: Film Director Susan Cohn Rockefeller has posted a teaser of the documentary she is currently editing about my last tour to Iraq to play for the troops.  Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K54koz429zk

Thirdly: Cool shows in London and New York coming up! I recommend you buy your tickets in advance.
